1.  Fees for the services of Thai realtors:

No charge - commission for introducing the client is paid by the owner-lessor of the property.  We at Bangkok-homes do not charge the lessee of the property as well. All we ask is, that you deal through us for the properties that we introduce to you and do not instruct another agent to close a deal  after we have shown you the property you finally selected.

2.  Transferring funds  from my country to a Thai bank:

Can be done within 24 hours, if done correctly.

A Thai bank using the SWIFT system. If your bank abroad uses the same system, the money will arrive quickly and safely. You will obviously need identification, and it pays to open a savings account for the money to be transferred into this account directly.

If your account is not with the Head Office, it could take another few days to get to your branch. It is quicker to transfer from, say, the U.K./U.S.A. to the Head Office than to your local branch.

The big four Thai banks are all on line:
- Kasikorn Bank  (formerly Thai Farmers Bank)
- Bangkok Bank
- Krung Thai Bank
- Siam Commercial Bank

Others:
- Bank of Asia
- Krung Thai
- Citibank
- Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank - HSBC
- Thai Military Bank
- Standard Chartered Bank

3.  Internet Providers in Bangkok for Broadband ASDLor Dialogue:

a) KSC:
www.ksc.co.th
b) Cscoms:
www.csloxinfo.com

c) Samart: www.samart.co.th
d) TOT - Telephone Organisation of Thailand
e) True Move

However, for ADSL lines the main two providers are T.O.T. and True.  As you cannot change the name of the line into your own name as Lessee, you should have a Power of Attorney signed by the owner of the line for them to accept your account.  That is if the owner wants you to apply into your own name. In some areas where Broadband is not available then there is a Dialogue alternative which costs more per month but is cheap to install.

4.  SIMS bought in Thailand:

Officially local SIM cards cannot be purchased and used by foreigners now, you have to use a Thai name, someone with a Thai ID if you are without the proper Work Permit or other documents to show at purchase.  However, they do seem to be available all over Bangkok, the rule seems to be have been relaxed now under the new Government.  If you need a 'plan' where to wish to pay monthly then your work permit has to be presented at the time of application.

5.  Bringing my pets, a dog or cat: (also see 'Generally'

Yes it is very hot and yes there are proper vets in Bangkok.
